The certified organic dairy and horticultural farm consists of 115.03 acres. The sandy loam soils
are highly mineralized and have a high content of organic matter.
On the farms runs a seasonal creek. 60.6 Acres are crop land and the remaining acres are wooded or
with buildings.The woods have a mix of hard wood trees and some two miles of improved trails for horse
riding or cross country skiing.
The home is an older two story 5 bedroom home. With 1.5 bath, combined kitchen and living room and
small office. The 1764 sf. house has a basement and large root cellar. The home is served by a well
and has three heat sources. 1) Woodburner hearth (living room) 2) Outside hydronic heat-boiler fueled
by wood (parlor + house) 3) LP furnace in the basement (new in 2009). New roofing will be installed
before occupancy. The home well provides 1.1 gallon/hour and is also plumbed to the well for the barn.
The well for the barn provides 12.5 gallon/minute total.
The organic herd is seasonal and is a Holstein/Normande/Jersey crossed herd. Only few cows, or none, are
milked in Dec/Jan/Febr. The RHA is 12,000-14,000 with an average SCC of 170,000 - 220,000. The farm ships
its organic milk to Organic Valley.
The two-story lean-to-dairy barn is 2976 sf. The loft for hay holds 1500 small bales. The parlor is a 6
swing unit parlor. A 30x72 hoop barn is used for young stock housing. A 24x30 feet pole shed with cement
floor and electricity is used as machine shed.
